Protect yourself from cervical cancer Cervical cancer was once among the leading causes of cancer death in American women. The knowledge and tools we’ve gained since shouldn’t be taken for granted. With current knowledge and technology, cervical cancer is highly preventable, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Regular testing, lifestyle choices and a vaccine can help women avoid this disease altogether. An essential test The Pap test can detect cell changes in the cervix that could become cancer if they aren’t treated. The tes

Zika and birth defects: The risk is real About 1 in 10 pregnant women in the U.S. with a confirmed Zika infection had a baby with a birth defect tied to the virus, a federal report shows. This is the most comprehensive national report so far on pregnancies affected by a known infection. Last year, the federal government received reports from 44 states of some 1,300 pregnant women with possible Zika infections. Most were associated with travel. Infection in the first trimester with this mosquito-borne virus posed the greatest risk: 15 percent of the women with a known i

  • My children have been seeing Dr. Azim and/or Dr. Mena since they were born and both of them were premature. Seventeen and ten years later - my children are extremely healthy and happy children. It is good to have good partners that actually care about your children and Dr. Azim, and his staff, have been so excellent to work with. I only wish my personal PCP was as wonderful. I hear horror stories that people have with their doctors or waiting forever and I honestly have been blessed enough to not have had that type of experience. I will be sad when my kids are too old to see Dr. Azim. He always greets us with a big smile and the kids know and trust him. I would highly recommend him. Sometimes things are just worth the wait!

  • I will agree with some of the other notions about arriving early and still having to wait, but, generally my experiences have been positive. The staff on the 4th floor are pleasant and Dr. C. Guillermo is very pleasant, positive, and I feel like she really cares about her patients. Instead of trying to come in and diagnose in 2 seconds and leave she always comes in asking questions and getting patient feedback to make them feel comfortable about the any conditions and treatments. It's like you're working together instead of everything being done by the doctor. She is definitely an awesome listener. She keeps an open mind towards what I have to say about why I'm in for the appointment even though I'm obviously not a doctor. Would recommend.

  • My doctor is Dr. C. Guillermo and has been for quite sometime. All of my family has now chosen her as their PCP based on my reccommendation. She is thorough, a great listener, always with a pleasant personality and very good at what she does.

  • Dr. Azim was recommended to me by a life long friend. He is a very good Dr. He is great with the children, very knowledgeable, and is flexible. His office staff is friendly and will never turn you away if you are late which was great for me when I was pregnant and had another small child to carry. I highly recommend Dr. Azim and the staff at Gulf Coast Medical Group.
